The "No Olympics LA" organization, established in 2017 and in line with Democratic values, has been vocal in its opposition to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Eric Sheehaan, the group's spokesperson, stated that they have been outspoken about their discontent. In the past, they disrupted an International Olympic Committee press conference and held protests against Governor Gavin Newsom, warning that the Olympics could pose significant risks to the city's future.

Sheehaan complained, "This is an unacceptable gamble with public funds. Everything we've heard about this Olympics from the start has turned out to be untrue. We anticipate many negative consequences for the people of Los Angeles." Currently, excluding infrastructure project costs, the total city budget for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics is $6.9 billion (€6.1 billion). However, the overall project cost of the Olympics is likely to balloon to over $50 billion (€44.2 billion). According to MSN, after subtracting the $1.8 billion (€1.6 billion) earmarked funds from the IOC and the $7 billion (€6.9 billion) in revenue, a large cost remains, with a significant portion accounted for by the $42.9 billion (€38 billion) "28by2028 Metro Expansion project" approved in January 2018. The group's concerns and the financial uncertainties surrounding the Olympics continue to fuel the debate over the wisdom of hosting the 2028 Games in Los Angeles.
